Games without borders festival

16

The purpose of the “Games without borders festival” is to bring together, connect, and foster communication and collaboration among students from different schools (Public and Minority) in the region. This is achieved through carefully designed games and experiential, athletic, and movement-based activities that are inclusive of all students, regardless of abilities or skills, and free from discrimination or segregation based on gender or other social and cultural characteristics.

The Festival’s program includes cooperative games, “empathy” games simulating the experience of individuals with special educational needs, modified rule-based sports activities, and group dance. Participant groups are mixed and formed randomly, consisting of students from both Public and Minority Schools. The entire event is carried out with the support of volunteer students from the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science, Democritus University of Thrace, under the supervision of faculty members.
